Comfort Food! That’s the first thing I think of when I walk into Huntington’s Restaurant in Marion, Iowa. It’s one of those wonderful local places where the staff truly does know your name and you can still get favorites such as Cod Fillets, Walleye, Corned Beef Hash, Broasted Chicken and Bread Pork Tenderloins. In so many ways it’s like “going home” to a favorite family meal. That’s not to say Huntington’s menu is stuck in the past, they also offer many contemporary and health-conscious choices including both “petite appetite” and “light” menu options. I stopped in to meet with owner John Huntington who treated me to a chocolate milkshake – he claims he makes them better than anyone else, but my guess is that every staff member there could turn out a pretty great milkshake. Huntington’s is afterall home to one of the Iowa Restaurant Association’s past “restaurant employee of the year” winners. If you’re ever in the Marion or even Cedar Rapids area – make your way to this quaint little section of Marion and take a little comfort in the wonderful home cooking of Huntington's Restaurant.
