Last week I had the chance to head to Cedar Falls and meet with the good folks of Barmuda. They own many of my favorite Cedar Valley area restaurants including my lunch stop that day—SOHO Sushi Bar and Deli on Main Street in the historic downtown of Cedar Falls. I attended UNI for a couple of years in the mid 1980s and it is amazing to see what has happened to this part of Cedar Falls over the years. It’s that perfect balance of “quaint,” “vintage,” and “hip” – WELL WORTH a visit! SOHO fits the environment of this little pocket of Cedar Falls perfectly. It sits next to the Historic Black Hawk Hotel. I was there over the lunch hour and both the indoor and outdoor seating areas were nearly full. The sushi menu is pretty extensive and there is also a full blown deli menu featuring sandwiches, paninis, and soups. I ordered the spicy tuna roll (a favorite) and added a side salad and iced tea. I was anxious to get back on the road and the service was extremely quick. It was the perfect light lunch before I pushed off to head home.
