2005, (Des Moines, Iowa) – The
Iowa Restaurant Association named Harker’s Distribution, as the 2005 Purveyor
of the Year. The company and team members Stan Dickman and Vern Hathaway
were honored at the association’s annual Awarding Excellence ceremony.
“The Purveyor of the year is recognized for superior
customer service and for providing quality products to the industry,” said Doni
DeNucci, president and CEO for the Iowa Restaurant Association. “Stan and Vern
were also recognized for their ability and willingness to partner with their
customers.”
Headquartered in LeMars, Harker’s Distribution, Inc. is
the largest center-of-the-plate specialty food service distributor in the United
States. They feature Signature of Iowa steaks. The Harker’s corporation,
as well as Dickman and Hathaway were nominated by their Iowa restaurateur
customers.
This year’s Awarding Excellence was held in
November at the West Des Moines Marriott and included a banquet, reception,
culinary competition and tasting salons. The event was emceed by WHO Radio
personality Van Harden and featured a keynote address by National Restaurant
Association Board Chairman Craig Miller, president and CEO of Ruth’s Chris
Steakhouse.
